What if getting older didn't have to hurt (as much)?
Do you find yourself experiencing the following?
- Stiffness upon waking or when standing after sitting a while
- Headaches
- Foot pain
- Achy joints
- Chronic pain where it's hard to pin point the root cause
Often times the cause is dehydrated connective tissue or fascia.
What is fascia?
Fascia is your body's three-dimensional connective tissue and main support system. It surrounds every part of your body and connects everything in your body together. It's job is to support, protect and stabilize everything from your skin and bones, to your internal organs - even down to the cellular level.
Daily living, stress, repetitive motion, injuries, diseases and aging all contribute to this fascia becoming dehydrated. While drinking water and movement can help, it doesn't do enough to combat the "stuck stress" that accumulates in our bodies. Think of your fascia as a sponge. A dry sponge will only soak up a small but of water and it's not very flexible. Hydrate that sponge and you can squeeze and twist that sponge with ease.
So what can we do? MELT!
Using the 4Rs of MELT:
The MELT Hand and Foot treatment uses small therapy balls to treat the hands and feet using various techniques that mimic some the work done by a manual therapist. Clients often tell me (jokingly) that they wish they could bring me home with them to work on them every day. With MELT, you can play the part of your own therapist to help reinforce and maintain the work done on the table.
Melt is more than just pressing a therapy ball into a sore spot - in fact it's quite the opposite. MELT is a gentle technique, if you experience pain while Melting, that's your body's way of telling you to use less pressure, not more. In addition to rehydrating your fascia, MELT also helps rebalance and reconnect your nervous system
